Richard Morgan’s Keynote
My baby laptop battery spectacularly died at this point so my notes are pretty sparse, but i have pieced together a bit from my tweets. There are some pretty good blog posts on Richard’s keynote here, here and here.
making the digital museum relevant in peoples everyday lives – is a cracking title for a keynote. The digital museum is scattered all over the web, how do we make sense of that?? That’s the million dollar question really isn’t it?
Is retail everyone’s experience of the V&A or any/every museum? Example of V&A bedding ( i happen to own a very nice set of V&A bedding, and it is wonderful, however i do go to the V&A and appreciate the sculpture galleries in particular, and now the even more spectacular Medieval & Renaissance Galleries –but does everyone have this combination of experiences?
Richard then goes on to show why the V&A is one of the best at engaging users. Focusing on the excellent World Beach Project, the Wedding fashion site and then a quick intro to the new digital exhibition – Decode
It is important to be proactive – shaping museum content so it can be utilised by users in a way that they want, encourage users to reuse to make their own collections.
The key is … maverick activity in a corporate narrative. Genius.
