I’ve changed my image, what do you think?
I’m not brave enough, or clever enough with CSS to change the theme, but I quite like the image. Its taken during Durham’s Luminare; which saw a series of light installations and illuminations change the visual experience of the historic city. This sort of symbolises my particular research interest is in user experience in digital cultural contexts. How can the new, the digital, change the experience of the old? I am fascinated by the nature of participation and engagement possibilities provided by digital spaces and social media and whether online interactions with cultural heritage content provide engaging experiences for users, supporting inquiry and meaning making.
So my digital nerdosaurus adventures will remain the same; but as my job role quietly overlaps into my PhD there will be more focus on Digital Humanities and the exploration of how and whether we can apply technology to our experience of history, heritage and culture, specifically museums and digital content. I want to question how technology changes the environment around us, physical and digital, and discuss whether those changes are for the better. As society becomes increasingly digital, it has become a way of life and it is important to understand how and why that is happening.
I hope you like it, whats not to like about a bright pink ladder in a dark vennel (alleyway)?
